Our Ladies' Cocktail Party surpassed our expectations as many old and new members celebrated the upcoming season! It was good to reconnect with our St. Albans tennis friends, meet new members, hear about exciting programs from our pros, and enjoy good food and beverages! The camaraderie between our members and enthusiasm for the upcoming season is wonderful to see. See photos of the fun!

This past Saturday night was a tennis social at Springton Tennis Club. Lots of members came out to enjoy an evening of tennis, pickleball and friends! Take a look at photos from this entertaining evening. Mark your calendars for the next social which will be outdoors at the club on May 4 as we celebrate "Cuatro de Mayo"! Finally, tennis clinics at the club are starting soon! Check out the schedule below.

We are proud to announce that several capital improvement projects are underway. The roof repair for the clubhouse has begun. Deck and step repairs and replacements are in process by the tennis area. Finally, after much feedback from our members, the ladies' locker room is being updated during the month of April.

Two of our St. Albans swimmers did very well at the PA State YMCA Championships:

  • Gemma Undercofler's (UMLY) 12u girls relay team took the gold medal, setting an UMLY record! She also finished second in 50m and 100m backstroke, setting UMLY team records in both. She also finished 3rd in the 100m butterfly.

  • Eddie Kohn's (Lansdowne) 12u boys relay took the gold medal. Eddie also finished 4th in the 50m backstroke, and 7th in the 100m backstroke.

Congratulations Gemma and Eddie!

Elsley Hazell is having a banner post-swim season.  She  placed 2nd in the 100 Breast and 7th in the 100 Fly at the Delco Invitational Meet helping her Haverford HS Girls team place 1st overall in the meet.  She then went on to place 4th in the 100 Breast & Fly at Central League Champs, which sent her to the PIAA District 1 Champs at LaSalle College. Next stop is the Speedo Sectionals in Ithaca, NY! Congrats Elsley!

Nicole Torrillo competed in the Delco Invitational for Penncrest HS in the 100 Breast and 100 Fly.  Nicole swam a personal best in the 100 Fly, earning her a spot in the Central League Champs - this was a life-long goal for Nicole!  Nicole also attended Districts with her team as an alternate in the Free Relay.  Way to go Nicole!

Nicole and Elsley both swim at SA in the summer and swim for Dave Hart at the Baldwin School for Club swimming.  The Hart family are long-time members of SA!  (Dave's children all swam at SA and his daughter Maddie swims for PSU!)

Ryan Wanner is finishing up his spring season strong this year under the guidance of our very own and cherished Assistant Swim Coach, Svetlana. Ry qualified in four events for JO's. He medaled in the 50 back and was nanoseconds away in the 100 back and 50 free! Next up is Silver Champs where Ry is swimming the 200 & 100 IM and 100 & 200 free!  Ry is looking forward to being back with the Sharks at St. Albans this summer!

Swim and Dive Team registrations and evaluations will be the end of May and dates will be communicated in the next newsletter.  For information about the swim and dive programs, check our swim and dive team page.
