Volume 3 - February 25, 2019

The club is gearing up for the upcoming season and it is going to be an exciting year. Refer a friend and save! Every member who refers a new member will receive a $100 discount towards their 2019 annual dues AND the new member receives a $100 discount. Email our Membership Director to learn more.

Our February Happy Hour at Teca was another successful event with over 40 in attendance. The fun lasted well into the night. St. Albans' first Pickleball Social was a huge success and our pros, Phil and Amanda stopped by to join in the fun. Pickleball was followed by a delicious dinner at El Limon. Check out the photos on facebook.

Be sure not to miss any of our upcoming social events including the tennis social on March 30 at Springton Tennis Club.

A Special Meeting was held on February 12, with over 98% of votes in favor of the new bylaws and debt financing. This new loan will allow the club to make additional necessary repairs while keeping dues as low as possible.

The Board presented the 2019 fee structure as well as a new member referral program. Referring members and applicants will each save $100 for every new member who joins in 2019. Send the membership application link to all of your friends. If you refer only ONE member, your total fees will actually go down $50 from last year! We expect invoices to be sent electronically in the next week, so be on the lookout. If you do not receive your invoice by the end of the month or have any questions, please email info@stalbansswim.com

We are in the process of preparing the facilities for the upcoming season. Some current initiatives include finalizing contracts for the roof replacement, pool improvement, new playground, and a new pool management company.

The next board meeting will be held on March 12th at 6:30pm at the Newtown Public Library, 201 Bishop Hollow Road, Newtown Square. Active members are welcome.

We added a section to our newsletter so everyone can get to know their board.  We will profile two board members each month.

In her former life, Jennifer Mathes was a Marketing Manager for a paper manufacturing company where she met her husband, Chip. She retired 20 years ago when the first of their three sons was born. Chip grew up going to St. Albans, so it was inevitable that they would eventually become members. In addition to her role as Secretary, Jennifer serves on the Marketing Committee where she will help improve the Club’s communication and promote the Club in local communities. Jennifer has served on several boards and volunteers for a variety of organizations. In her free time, she enjoys watching her sons play baseball, improving her photography skills, spending time in Ocean City, and playing a lot of tennis. She and Chip look forward to meeting more members on the tennis and pickleball courts this year.

Corresponding Secretary
Tom McCarthy is a Certified Arborist by trade with a degree in Business Management.  Tom currently owns a tree care company in Colorado as well as oversees two offices for a residential tree company in the local area. In addition to handling the role of Corresponding Secretary handling the Shares of Stock of St. Albans, Tom plans to be on the Operations Committee where he will consult on St. Albans tree and landscaping needs. Tom started playing tennis last year as a beginner and plays whenever he can and aspires to improve his game. His wife and daughter enjoy relaxing summers by the pool. This will be Tom's third season as a member of St. Albans.
